Participation in Knowledge Day of Kherson State University (04.09.23, online)
On September 4, 2023, the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine team joined the celebration of Knowledge Day organized by Kherson State University.
The event was held in a mixed format: part of the community was in Kherson, the majority gathered at office in Ivano-Frankivsk, and others joined online. In total, about 700 participants joined the event.
The event started with a minute of silence to honor the memory of the defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.
Traditionally, the Rector of Kherson State University, Professor Oleksandr SPIVAKOVSKYI, welcomed the audience, emphasizing that “Kherson State University has not stopped the educational process for a day, despite the war as well as implementation of international joint projects”.
Oleksandr SPIVAKOVSKYI expressed special words of gratitude to Rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Ihor TSEPENDA for their reliable support and assistance, and the opportunity to continue working and providing all the necessary business processes in Ivano-Frankivsk. The speaker also thanked colleagues and partners from the UK – the University of Kent, and Poland – Uniwersytet Jana Długosza w Częstochowie, Pomeranian University in Słupsk, as well as the USAID Foundation, National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine.
Oleksandr PROKUDIN, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, emphasized that despite all the obstacles, Kherson State University was able not only to retain students, unite the staff and continue to provide quality education from the first day of the war, but also to expand the educational family.
Yurii SOBOLEVSKYI, First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council and Chief Executive Officer, congratulated the University community and underlined KSU strong institutional development strategy.
Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine Coordinator, highlighted that the European Commission has been providing a strong support to Ukraine via Erasmus+ from the 1st days of brutal invasion of Russian Federation into Ukraine by special measures, flexibility, digital tools, open educational courses and resources, access to the professional networks. Moreover, the European Commission provided additional budget for calls with the focus on Ukraine under Cooperation Partnerships and opened new opportunities for Ukrainian organisations as associated partners. Thus it is important to ensure the complementarity between different actions under Erasmus+.
